We would never dare to think up some of the things Jesus tells us about the Father. Religions that are man-made and think up their own “acceptable” doctrines about God come up with some very interesting things. But when Jesus tells these parables, He makes very clear how God feels about people like you and me. This is truly amazing!

This set of parables is a watershed passage about being a follower of Jesus. It isn’t for the casually curious… well actually difficult thing about this set of parables is it really IS for the casually curious, and the nominal Christian, and the person at the end of his or her rope. There will be no question of what Jesus means when the parables are spoken. Prepare for decision time..

Life to the fullest…abundant life…living life to the edges. Those phrases might describe what we crave every day. The life God has intended for us is exactly that. The parable of the banquet invitations we study today touches on part of that abundant life experience, one which we may not grasp well yet. Excuses for not attending the banquet will be rejected, The Father wants you to experience the joy of life to the fullest.

Money and success are touchy subjects in the church, for some reason. The Bible talks a lot about money, so we want to figure out what God has in mind for us to know. The parable about the successful man who built bigger barns and granaries but died unexpectedly should raise questions for us. Today we’ll try to find some real answers.

Pastor Tim went on a medical mission trip to Afghanistan recently. This is a sermon relating some of the stories from that trip and the primary lesson he learned while there. The Afghan people do not have religious freedom. Because of this they put their lives in danger when converting to Christianity. The Christians involved in the underground church in Afghanistan jeopardize the lives of all other members of the church when they aren’t careful how they live during the week. American Christians may not physically endanger their church by acting foolishly during the week, but they do cause great damage when unconcerned about a lack of integrity.
