ADULT DISCOVERY HOUR

“It was He who gave some… to
prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be
built up…” Eph. 4:12
“May the God of peace…equip you
with everything good for doing His will…” Heb. 13:20-21
“All scripture is God-breathed
and is useful… so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good
work.” 2 Tim. 3:16-17
It is clear in scripture that we are to be equipped for
maturity and service in our Christian walk and life. To do that, God, Himself,
uses His Word and His appointed, gifted, teachers and leaders to prepare His
people for those works of service.
It is, therefore, our goal at Faith Baptist Church to make
the best use of our Adult Sunday School/Discovery Hour to do just that—to equip,
teach and train you to be mature in your Christian walk and to serve God where
He has gifted you to serve.
In order to accomplish this task, we have adopted “The
Spiritual Growth Path”. This path to maturity centers around four major areas
of the believer’s life:
Fellowship/Membership
Discipleship/Maturity
Service/Ministry
Evangelism/Mission
As you follow this
Spiritual Growth Path by taking these
classes listed below and apply them to your life, you will be glorifying God by
building up His Church.
THIS
SUMMER
(June-July)
One Class Only

Join us in June
and July for as eight week study on answering the "Gnosticism" of "The
DaVince Code", " The Golden Compass", "Jesus Christ-Super Star",
and the next book to be written, "Jesus of Nazereth: A Realistic Portrait",
which is anything but realistic.
We will be
addressing questions such as,
Was Jesus and Mary Magdalene married?
Is Christianity just a collection of pagan religions?
Where do we get our Bible from?
Is it reliable? How can we know?
Aren't all religions basically the same?
If there are 80 other Gospels, why didn't they make the cut?
How reliable is our Bible today "since it went through many rewritings and
revisions"?
If you don't feel
confident to answer these and many other questions that are constantly being
fired at the Church and at Christianity, come and be equipped. The boring
title for this is "Christian Apologetics: Understanding the reasons for
having faith in Christianity".
(Then in
August)
A four-week seminar on:
"Living Beyond Myself: Discover Joy Through Serving Others"
(Original Seminar Produced by Willow
Creek Community Church)
Learn what it means to take the great
“gamble” of serving others and seeing if it doesn’t pay big dividends. We
will look at taking Christ at His Word and offering ourselves up for the
sake of the Gospel and for other people. Then you will assess whether or
not you feel more fulfilled, more passionate about your gifts, and more
convinced of your calling.
We will end this seminar with a Church-wide
Ministry Fair, where you can learn what is happening at and through FBC,
where you can plug in your gifts and passions to serve the Body of Christ,
and where you can also find a ministry that can meet your needs as well.
Warning! You may be compelled in your own
heart to serve after this.
