invites all home schoolers to participate in enrichment classes!
What
classes are being offered?
Art, Physical Education, and
Reading/Phonics are available for students in grades PreK-12. Class
times will be increased to 1 hour and 15 minutes each. Classes will
begin at 12:15 p.m. and be dismissed at 2:50pm
When?
Enrichment classes will be held Monday afternoons from 12:15-2:50pm.
The Spring session will start March 31, 2008 and end May 19, 2008.

Cost?
The following tuition
reflects cost for one 8-week session for each student:
One
class: $15.00
Two
Classes: $30.00

A maximum of 15 students allowed per class.

Donations accepted to help with tuition costs. If you would like to
contribute, please make check payable to Faith Baptist Church &
designate for “Home School Enrichment.”
Registration
deadline is March 24, 2008.
Tuition may be
paid in 2 installments. Half of the tuition is due at time of
registration. The remainder of the student’s tuition payment is due
by the first day of class.

Art: Sketch book, markers, and pencils.
PE:
Comfortable clothing and gym shoes

Teacher Biographies
Art:
Alissa LaCanne has a B.A. degree in Art History from Iowa State
University and spent a summer semester studying commercial art in
London. She has experience working in gift shops and exhibits at art
museums in Minneapolis and as a volunteer with the children’s art
education classes at the Octagon Center for the Arts in Iowa. She has
taught art for the Enrichment program for the past 2 years.
PE:
Caleb Johnson will be teaching PE to grades 2-5 this session. His
classes in the Fall session were very well received! He is a High
School Freshmen and has been a sports enthusiast for many years! He
values physical fitness and participates on several sports teams. He
co-taught Soccer skills to 6-11 year olds through the Peshtigo Park and Rec Dept this past summer and enjoyed every minute. He has attended
Enrichment classes from the very beginning and enjoys working with
fellow home school students. Our on-site administrator will be
available to assist Caleb as needed.
PE:
Donna Leupp will be teaching PE to our older home schoolers. She is
certified in Group Physical Fitness and has been teaching a variety of
classes since 1996. She has taught Pilates, Cardio & Strength training,
Aerobics, and Senior Fitness. She is currently teaching classes at the
YMCA. She loves the energy, fun, and fellowship of group teaching.
She is looking forward to offering that enthusiasm to home schoolers.
Donna is also a homeschooling mom and newly appointed as Director of
Children’s Ministries here at Faith Baptist.
Beginning
Readers/Developing Readers:
Michelle Campbell is
a Wisconsin licensed teacher. She earned a BA degree in Elementary
Education from Judson College. She has taught Special Education
classes for grades 5-6 in Chicago. Her most recent experience has been
teaching grades K-1 at Peshtigo
Elementary Learning Center for the past 7 years. Currently, she is
a stay at home mom.

Class Descriptions
Art:
Students will be creating projects this session using
a variety of techniques and materials. They will learn more about
the color wheel, clay sculpture, drawing, painting, and collage
still-life, print-making and they will create weather vanes. Get
ready for some fun!
PE: Children will
participate in a variety of games and activities including: soccer,
kickball, wiffle ball, stuck-in-the-mud, dodgeball, etc. Some
age-appropriate physical exercises will also be included.
PE: The goal for the older group is to increase the student’s fitness
level while having fun, utilizing a variety of active games and sport
activities such as Bench Ball, Dodge Ball, English Fortress, etc. They
will also have time to increase their skill level in more traditional
sports such as basketball and volleyball.
Reading/Phonics: Students will
develop pre-reading strategies through letter/sound recognition, sight
word practice, children's literature and poetry, phonics activities,
reading games, finger-plays and music.
PE (PreK-1):
Gym time will
be a part of this group’s schedule as well. Mrs. Campbell will
incorporate physical fitness in a fun way by having the children
participate in different games and sports activities.
Art (PreK-1): Students will
be able to express themselves creatively with a variety of
age-appropriate art/craft projects.

Student
Conduct:
Enrichment class students must be
faithful to the following statements while at Faith Baptist
Church and be willing to yield to discipline if any of the
following standards are broken:

Students
will refrain from swearing, using vulgar language, or using
the Lord’s name in vain.

Students
will explicitly follow the class dress code while at Faith
Baptist or representing the Enrichment classes.

Students
will respect the authority of the church staff and not talk
back or be disrespectful to their directions, decisions, or
authority.
-
Students
will respect and uphold the physical and emotional
well-being of others. Students will respect the rights of
others to learn and will treat others with courteous
behavior.
-
Students
will respect the Faith Baptist Church building and the
equipment in and around it.
-
Each
student will take responsibility for his/her own actions and
decisions.
Dress
Code:
-
Clothing
should be modest and appropriate.
-
Clothing
must cover skin and underwear around the midriff when
standing or sitting. Dresses and shorts are to be no shorter
than approximately 2” above the knee. Clothes may not be
tight and form revealing, nor extra baggy to create a sloppy
look.
Inclement
Weather Policy:
In the event of inclement weather, we will follow
the Peshtigo school closure process. If Peshtigo schools are
cancelled due to weather issues, our classes will also be
cancelled.
Note: Cancelled classes may or may not be made
up at a later date. You will be notified by the Ministry board
of any decision.
Refund/Cancellation
Policy
A refund of 50% of the total class cost
will be offered up to and through the first day of class only
for cancellation. No refunds will be issued after the second
class day.
